I’d like the class to know that Trey Pekruhn (Dr. William Frederick Pekruhn III), MC ’71, died after a very brief bout with kidney cancer, on Thursday, June 23. I was privileged to celebrate at the Requiem Eucharist for Trey at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Marietta, OH, where Trey’s dermatology practice was.

Although I have not seen Trey since we graduated, we exchanged holiday greetings regularly through the years. I always cherished his friendship. He was honest, unpretentious, extremely smart, incredibly hard working and one of the most down to earth people that I have known. Trey came from a humble background and was proud of it. We were particularly close during our senior year, when we taught each other how to deal with life’s challenges by recognizing and muting our personal idiosyncracies. (I know that what I have just said is obscure, but Trey knows what I am talking about.) Trey was a good friend who is missed. I regret not seeing him for so long.
