In 1977 I became the first Clinical Neuropsychologist at the Mayo Clinic; we now have more than 20 neuropsychologists on the Mayo staff. I established neuropsychological assessment services, research programs, and post-doctoral training opportunities during my Mayo tenure. On December 19, 2014 I retired after being on the Mayo staff for a little more than 37 years. I am now an Emeritus Professor of Psychology in Division of Neurocognitive Disorders, Department of Psychiatry & Psychology.

Tell us about your personal life these days...

On the day that I retired from Mayo, my wife and I moved to Loveland, Colorado.

Family

On January 6, 2016 my beautiful wife, Marie, and I celebrated our 43rd wedding anniversary. We have two married children: Rick (Biomedical Engineer; Spouse, Stacey, is a stay-at-home mom and volunteer) and Anne (Family Medicine physician; Spouse, Joe, is a writer) and four grand-daughers that range in age from 8 to 11 (as of Decembger, 2015).

How often do you visit New Haven?

Rarely

What's been your most memorable life experience since Yale?

My marrage and family. The opportunity to work at the Mayo Clinic was also extremely stimulating and gratifying.

If you could relive your Yale experience, is there anything you'd do differently?

Yes. I would have become more involved with clubs and activities in an effort to become friends with classmates beyond my Morse College friends.
