Part II - Personal Updates
Tell us about your professional life/ career | Many of us say the same thing–what a long, strange trip it’s been. Pediatrician, CDC epidemiologist, pediatric infectious diseases doctor, practicing clinician, managing quality and service for a large, multipsecialty medical group, physician leader and leader of electronic health records projects, wandering consultant. Never would have predicted this back end at the front end, and I’ve enjoyed just about every minute of it. |
Publications | Multiple professional articles and book chapters. My only book was about diarrhea. |
Tell us about your personal life these days... | Married to Billie for since 1978, traveling all over the place whenever we get the chance, persevering through renovating (reconstructing) a 120-year-old house on the Bay side of Telegraph Hill in SF. |
How often do you visit New Haven? | For reunions only, really. |
Most influential book? | One Hundred Years of Solitude |
Best Yale Course? | The ones I invented for myself. |
What's been your most memorable life experience since Yale? | Patient care |
What the most memorable trip you've taken since Yale? | Not possible to pick–we’ve been all over the world and loved it all. We are very lucky |
If you could relive your Yale experience, is there anything you'd do differently? | I wasn’t perfect by any means, and neither was Yale, but I was happy as hell all of the time (even while shooting myself in the foot occasionally). I wouldn’t change a thing. |
